Caterpillar 2 has made his hammock in preparation Caterpillar 2 has made his hammock in preparation for transformation- see that little white thread? 2nd pic is Caterpillar 1 in chrysalis form, hammock holding him up. These guys remind me of those crazy mountain climbers who sleep like this on the cliff face. The actual transformation is pretty fast. With Cat1 he looked like a sleeper for a couple days, would check every morning for changes. Day 3 I came out , he looked the same. An hour later my kiddo came out and he was in full chrysalis mode. We’ve got one more that is still eating (we rescued these 3 after birds and wasps ate the rest of the nursery). #caterpillar #swallowtail #chrysalis
