This past week I traveled with my mom to Providence, RI to take part in CZT20 (training to become a Certified Zentangle Teacher – CZT). We had both really been looking forward to this, and had heard nothing but good things about the whole program. We were not disappointed! The weather forecast had called for Sunday to be a rainy day, so we were not looking forward to a 6 hour drive in the rain, but things worked out and we had sun the entire way up.
There were many wonderful surprises over the course of the seminar – will do my best to not give any away in this post! The Hotel Providence was lovely, and the entire staff was friendly and helpful. I cannot say enough good things about Maria, Rick, Molly, Martha, and the rest of the Zentangle crew. These are definitely some of the most generous and genuine people I have had the pleasure to meet. They kept us busy and provided a great mix of business, philosophy, and technique, all presented with humor and enthusiasm and encouragement.
Even with all of the goodies provided, I still had to pick up more at the store. In fact, I think a picked up a little something every day we were there. I love everything, but have to say my favorite is the Sakura Pigma Pen 05 that they include as part of the Apprentice kit. My daughter loves to draw with me, and this pen is a bit more able to stand up to her 6 year old drawing technique!
And then there were the other tanglers. 109 new CZTs with my mom and I being one of at least 5 mother/daughter teams in attendance. Everyone we spoke with was warm and open. We tried to meet and talk with a lot of different people, but know there were many folks we did not get to meet.
I have to send some hellos out to those who really made the experience enjoyable – Betsey, Charlotte (the birthday girl!), Marcelle, Megan, Christi, Karin, Pamela, Julianne, and Miriam – it was so wonderful meeting all of you! Now stop causing arukas!
