Japonica is an original mixed media painting being released as part of the 25 Days of Minis for 2019.
While Japanese beetles are typically seen as pests, they are some of my favorite little beetles. I love the iridescence of their shells and have so many fond memories of summers spent catching and naming them when we were kids.
Created on a 10″x10″ wood panel, this one of a kind artwork was handmade by Alecia Miller through a process of layering old book pages in the background and utilizing the transparency of the paints to achieve the light and airy feel of the final painting.
The artwork has been sealed with a protective varnish and is mounted in a black wood frame, ready to display in your home.
