Patience is an original mixed media painting being released as part of the 25 Days of Minis for 2018.
In floral symbolism, Asters typically represent patience and elegance. They are the birth flower for September and have various origin stories to choose from.
The Greeks tell the story of Astraea, a goddess who was turned into a star to rise above the earth when Jupiter flooded it. When the flood was over, she cried tears for all the lives lost, and where her tears hit the earth, the aster flowers grew.
In America, there is a Cherokee legend that 2 girls were looking to hide when their tribes were at war. A medicine woman saw their future and that they would be killed in the war so she helped them and hid them in the forest by covering them with leaves and herbs. In the morning, they had turned into flowers, with the one in the blue turning into the aster and the one in yellow turning into the goldenrod.
Created on a 8″x8″ wood panel, this one of a kind artwork was handmade by Alecia Miller through a process of layering in the background and utilizing the transparency of the paints to achieve the light and airy feel of the final painting.
The artwork has been sealed with a protective varnish and is mounted in a black wood frame, ready to display in your home.
Artwork from this series will ship priority mail in the continental United States with a flat shipping/handling rate of $10.
