The Diva’s challenge for this week is to create some valentine inspired tiles, just in time for Valentine’s Day! I didn’t create these just for the challenge, but they are full of hearts, so they fit the bill.
First up is a zendala full of heart shaped tangles.

This is a piece that is a sample for a kids art/zentangle party. So much fun!

Don’t forget to head back over to the Diva’s site to check out all the great work everyone has submitted!
The Diva’s challenge this week was to create a tile with the majority of the tile left open. We tanglers have a tendency to fill everything, so this was a very good challenge to remind us that the eyes need a resting spot too. I used a renaissance tile for this one, with Narwal (my current go to pattern), BTL JOOS, and springkle.

The posters for the upcoming open studio at the Coleman’s Artist Studios are out! Big thanks to Rachel Romano for getting the posters made (and for making sure she got me on there even though I am getting into the space so close to the event).

November 21st – Hope to see you there!
This week the Diva has challenged us to use Munchin and confessed her dislike of black tiles. She offered up using white on black as an optional portion. I happen to love black tiles, so that aspect of the challenge was a no brainer for me. I have been playing with shiny things lately, so I went gold with Munchin with some white accents.

I recently order the new Tints on Tan kit from Jenny Peruzzi and Marty Deckel. They do a fantastic job putting these together, and provide very clear instructions so it feels like you are taking a class with them.

I enjoyed the tinting techniques so much, that I tried my hand at a tinted black tile, with a psuedo snowflake theme.

In addition to the white pen, I had to go back back in with the Starlight gel pen to give it a little extra winter sparkle. (I know it is not winter yet, but I sooo love when the snow starts falling.)

Sparkly!
Don’t forget to check out the other tiles submitted for the Diva’s challenge.
Let me know what you think in the comments.
I used the zendala template from this week’s Bright Owl Zendala Challenge to work on a larger piece, so it isn’t done yet. But seeing as today is the day Erin normally posts the new challenge, I figured I would post what is done, and will provide an update later when it is complete.
I have been playing around with Tri-roda (from Eni Oken) and Narwal (from Samantha Taylor) a lot lately, and thought they worked well together to form these trumpet like shapes. Filled in the rest with Fleavy (from Hanny Waldburger). I still have some rounding to do in ink and then the decision of keeping it black and white or adding color. I am leaning toward color, but let me know what you think.

In the Square One Facebook groups this week’s focus is on Meringue. I had a lot of fun with this (those curves are my fav!) and threw in some Buttercup as well.

Last night was the first night of the 6 week course I am teaching as part of our local night school program. I have a wonderful mix of students and we all had a great time. After our first tile, we only had about 15 minutes left, so we did a quick Bijou tile to get one more pattern in. Can’t wait for next week!

Tile 2 (Bijou) – Flux
Quick post today to share the tile I made for the Diva’s weekly challenge. This week she challenged us to use a striped string, but with whatever patterns we wanted. I’ve been having fun with Narwal, so I had to include that, and threw in ‘Nzeppel, which is the weekly tangle for the WZTV facebook group this week.

Enjoy!
