    Bright Owl #109 (and more!)

    22nd September, 2015 / Zentangle / 1 Comment

I used the zendala template from this week’s Bright Owl Zendala Challenge to work on a larger piece, so it isn’t done yet. But seeing as today is the day Erin normally posts the new challenge, I figured I would post what is done, and will provide an update later when it is complete.

I have been playing around with Tri-roda (from Eni Oken) and Narwal (from Samantha Taylor) a lot lately, and thought they worked well together to form these trumpet like shapes. Filled in the rest with Fleavy (from Hanny Waldburger). I still have some rounding to do in ink and then the decision of keeping it black and white or adding color. I am leaning toward color, but let me know what you think.

In the Square One Facebook groups this week’s focus is on Meringue. I had a lot of fun with this (those curves are my fav!) and threw in some Buttercup as well.

Last night was the first night of the 6 week course I am teaching as part of our local night school program. I have a wonderful mix of students and we all had a great time. After our first tile, we only had about 15 minutes left, so we did a quick Bijou tile to get one more pattern in. Can’t wait for next week!

Challenges: Diva 225 and Bright Owl 101

    10th July, 2015 / Zentangle / 18 Comments

Here are my tiles for a couple of this week’s challenges along with some other work from the week.

The Diva’s challenge for this week was to use color. Before I started working, I knew I wanted to use orange and green on the tile, and while it started out looking like a mustache, once I finished the tangles and added color, it appears the carrots in our garden are calling to me.

The Bright Owl’s Zendala challenge is back as well. I used this to try out a couple of new tangles that I have been seeing around, and am pretty happy with the result. This includes Trio from Hanny Waldburger and a little bit of Tangled Fortune Cookie from Traci Scott.

I also completed a couple of other tiles this week, one for the Facebook Square One group focusing on Munchin, and the other just finishing off a tile left from CZT20 with Mooka. I kept that one pretty simple…

I hope you enjoy them, and I’d love to hear your feedback. Don’t forget to check out all the other great work on the Diva and Bright Owl challenges!

    Diva Challenge #224 plus more

    4th July, 2015 / Zentangle / 4 Comments

A little late getting my tangle work up for this week, but here are a few tiles I have been working on.

First up, the Diva’s weekly challenge #224. This week she challenged us to do a monotangle using only Tipple. I started out with a zig-zag string and just went from there. Don’t forget to check out all the challenge responses from all the other tanglers!

I also spent this week trying out a few new tangles. Here is a bijou tile I did with Abundies from Hanny Waldburger. I filled in the center using Lotus Pods, from Margaret Bremner.

This last one was left from CZT20. We had been working on Paradox but had only done 2 of the triangles while at the seminar. I completed a full 6 and then decided to try out Olb after watching the new video from Helen Williams. I thought it transitioned pretty nicely from the Paradox.

Thanks for looking. Hope all of you here in the states are having a great Independence Day, and those any where else are enjoying a bit of freedom and liberty where-ever you are!
