Quick post today to share the tile I made for the Diva’s weekly challenge. This week she challenged us to use a striped string, but with whatever patterns we wanted. I’ve been having fun with Narwal, so I had to include that, and threw in ‘Nzeppel, which is the weekly tangle for the WZTV facebook group this week.
Fescu, Flez, ‘Nzeppel, Narwal, Hypnotize
Its been another busy week here with teeth, tangles, and back to school!
My little one had her first ‘official lost tooth’ come out Sunday night, just in time for the first day of school. (Her first 2 had to be pulled when the adult teeth came in behind them – the dentist said he had never seen ones with the entire root still attached like hers – they just did not want to go!) But this one wiggled its way out like normal. Yay!!!
Here are a couple of tiles from the facebook groups Weekly Zentangle Video (WZTV) and Square One. Last week’s Square One tangle was Windfarm, which I snuck in just under the wire.
Windfarm, with some metallic accents
This week’s was Yincut, which I combined with OOF, the tangle focus for the WZTV group. I really like the play of OOF and Fife next to each other, and may have to play around with those 2 a bit more.
Yincut, OOF, and Fife
I also did the Bright Owl Zendala challenge – a nice open zendala for us this week, so I filled with just 3 patterns, including Watusee, by Virginia Lockhart, which I had been wanting to try out.
Watusee, Chainlea, Dragonair
I hope your September has started off well! Don’t forget to follow the links above to check out how others have taken on the tangling this week.
This past week brought a last minute trip to Ohio to see family and help with a renovation project, so my blogging and tangling took a bit of a hit. Here’s a little catch up of what I have been working on.
At my monthly meeting with my writing buddy, we took a break and had an artist date with her partner to create on some of the zendala tiles. I was a little mistaken in my conversations with them as I thought they had both been tangling for a while, while in reality, my writing buddy had never tangled before! I would have chosen simpler patterns for us to do, but had based the selection on her love of spirals, so we just went with it.
Dragonair, Marasu, Printemps, Zinger
I think they turned out great! Can you even tell which is from a first time tangler?
I’ve spent a little time experimenting around with Dylusions Ink Sprays to create backgrounds of color to tangle on. This tile is just me playing around with both black and white pens trying to figure out which techniques I prefer on these backgrounds.
On the weekly challenges, I only did 2 last week, and both of those were done late.
The first was for the Weekly Zentangle Tangle Video, with the focus on Jetties.
The second was for the Its a String Thing challenge by Adele Bruno. It was my first time doing this challenge, but I’m sure it won’t be my last! This was for challenge #105, which used TanglePatterns String 105 as the string, and she gave us Daviso, Dicso, X-ess, and Undu for the patterns to use.
Daviso, Dicso, X-ess, Undu
Hopefully, this week I’ll be able to get more posted and done in time for the challenges. (Though we are also spending this week prepping for my daughter’s 7th birthday party on Friday, and having a Girl Scout planning meeting on Tuesday, and a private Zentangle class on Thursday, so it may be another sparse week artistically! Whew, I think I’m sleeping in on Saturday!)
This week’s Diva Challenge comes to us from guest challenger Cari Sultanik. She is asking us to use tangles that remind us of things natural and organic. These are my favorite tangles to use, and I had just finished some prep tiles for an upcoming class where I will be focusing on organic patterns for one of the classes.
Flux, Marasu, Zinger, Sampson
Diva Dance, Poke Root, Poke Leaf
Here are a couple of others from this week:
The Weekly Zentangle Tangle Video group focused on Fengle this week.
The Square One Facebook group focused on Eye-Wa as this week’s tangle.
Eye-Wa, Srewolf, Perf
Be sure to follow the links above and check out everyone else’s work. It is always so inspiring to see all the different approaches to the same challenge!
Erin Koetz Olson at the Bright Owl Zendala Dare gave us a wonderful template this week. I had a bunch of different thoughts on how to approach it, and ended up making 2 different versions.
This first one got transferred a little off center, but I just went with it. (No mistakes in Zentangle®, right?)
Aquafluer, Printemps & more
I’d been itching to break out the Renaissance tiles that I got in Providence last month, so this zendala was the perfect excuse for that.
Onamato, BTL Joos, Tipple, Mooka, Flux
I’ve also joined a new group on Facebook – The Weekly Zentangle Tangle Video (WZTV). They select a tangle each week and then the tiles are compiled into a video slideshow by Jane Dickinson, who does a great job running the group. This week’s tangle is Verdigogh.
Verdigogh, Tagh, Diva Dance
I’d love to hear your feedback, and don’t forget to go check out all the other Zendala’s over at the Bright Owl this week.
